And thank god!

Because now, CD sales will revert to their 1999 levels, lifting the music business and the entire country out of its economic torpor!

Yaaay!

Just heard the news a few moments ago.

Dammit!!

What a perfect way to cap of a bad week. I just now came back from having an eye exam, and found out that my left eye is bleeding internally. So now I have to find a place that I can afford to get this fixed.

I get in the car, turned on the radio, and heard that the feds just shut down a big downloading site. I'm thinking "goodbye Pirate Bay" and then heard the word "Megaupload".

Dammit, dammit, dammit, dammit, dammit, dammit, dammit, and one other thing...

Dammit!!!

Now overnight, nearly half if not nearly all of my links are all gone.

Question is, do I bother looking for another uploader or is that one on the chopping block next?

Crap.

2012 barley started and it sucks already... Evil or Very Mad

I downloaded an 8 cd boot from MU last night!

While I've also lost the majority of my links, I'm fortunate in that I just documented where they all were. They're spread out across at least six accounts, so it's much easier for me to know that a link is gone rather than search many different places trying to find it.

I'm certain that more file hosts will pop up in MegaUpload's absence. IMO, it was the best available, but that's irrelevant now. Thankfully, RapidShare has fixed many of the issues that I had with them. I'd also been moving to sites that uploaded to several file hosts. Although none of them have the retention of MU, at least I know what's out there and how good they are.

This is liable to set off a wave of counter-attacks by Anonymous, 4Chan and others. It could get really ugly. I don't think there would be a big uproar if you lost a smaller host like DepositFiles, but RapidShare, MediaFire and MegaUpload are huge. On top of that, there are places like Oron and FileSonic that are generating decent income for folks like Willard.

That's what bumming me out over the lost of Megaupload: I had links that date back to 2006. Up until now, I hadn't needed to re-upload links like I had to do with Rapidshare or Hotfile. For a while, it seemed that I was too busy re-upping links than add new one back then. I don't have time to re-up stuff again. NOW what?

Maybe it's time to *glup* utter those words...."for a limited time only?"

eehh... Rolling Eyes

I never lost any MediaFire links either.

Expect the e-mail to come soon saying that this address is linked to illegal uploads offered from MU.
