Apparently that cocksucker "Anony...," no, I can't say it. Still too fucking self-aggrandizing and self-mythologizing. Fuck him. I want to club him to death with that fucking steak sauce bottle.

Anyway, that pantywaist apparently works for Wikipedia.

From today's featured article:

The Liberty Head nickel was an American five-cent piece. It was struck for circulation from 1883 until 1912, with at least five pieces being surreptitiously struck dated 1913. The original copper–nickel five-cent piece, the Shield nickel, had longstanding production problems, and in the early 1880s, the United States Mint was looking to replace it.

That fucking asshole.

Waitaminnit... you can actually WORK for Wikipedia? And here I've been correcting commas and apostrophes all this time for free.

That would be the correct use of the word. The images on coins are formed by a strong blow with revere-cut dies, so you'll often see a specific mention of striking coinage in dictionaries.

I would guess that an LP is also struck. Cassettes and CDs, no.

Damn beaten to the reply by Don the only difference being that I'd have spelled reverse-cut with an s but then I don't idolise Paul.

I beg to differ.

Back in the summer of 1993 (during one of our annual drunken float trips) some colleagues and I repeatedly “struck” a steaming pile of our least-favorite CDs with a big-ass sledgehammer. I forget what all was in there, but I'm pretty sure I contributed Del Amitri and Stone Temple Pilots.

(Apologies for the crappy photo quality…it was one of those Kodak disposable jobs.)

(Note that no one is wearing any form of eye protection in these photos! Crazeee! Were we nuts or what?!)

Of course struck is correct here, the correctness of the word wasn't the point at all.

It was just amusing for its ability to remind one of Anus One.

If you were a kid today engaging in such endeavors, you'd be wearing a fucking bicycle helmet.

I hope you were using a biodegradable sledgehammer so that others could enjoy nature just as you had.

I've only been rafting once, but I didn't see a need for a folding chair or a big-ass sledgehammer at any point during the trek. I think you were fibbing about the rafting. I think you were actually participating in one of those "discover your own unique sense of mature masculinity" drum circle things. Or you're a satanist.

Nope, we really were as one with the water. Not to nit-pick over semantics, but we weren’t actually rafting, but rather canoeing. The difference between the two is greater than you might think. You tend to attract a unique, Dickey-esque breed of humanity when you float through the Ozarks in a canoe.

You’re absolutely right about that folding chair, though. It doesn’t have any business there at all. It looks like it belongs to a sunday school class in a musty church basement. As tom-tom beating amateur devil-worshippers, we should have known better.

Every time I've been canoeing someone always ended up in the river when friends accidentally nudged a canoe or spun it sideways.

It's funny how several friends didn't notice a canoe at the same time. Laughing
