He's still here. He's a permanent presence.

Carlton? He's still perched up there on my end, looking cranky as ever.

You know who I haven't heard anything out of for a mighty long time, though?...

One sd10521. Hasn't posted anything since 24 April. To put things in perspective, that was even before Don bowed out.

umm...eh-hee...I'm sorry about this but I was just trying out the Adblock Plus plug-in for Firefox, and I guess the settings somehow block the banner here by mistake.

Yes, it was a boo-boo.

You may proceed to mock me with full glee.

(By the way, I've always meant to ask this but...who the hell is that guy anyway???)

He's actor William Hickey, but he fit my Cranky Bastard motif in a role he portrayed on the sitcom Wings, one of my alltime faves. The cranky bastard he portrayed was Carlton Blanchard.

Ahh. For some reason, I thought that was some actor I saw on "Seinfeld". Boy, I remembered "Wings". One of the better sitcoms that came down the pike on T.V. I'm surprised that it's not playing anywhere on the dial right now. It's not that often sitcoms are that original and funny. Should have been bigger.

Thanks for clearing that up Reg.

Yep. Wings was the stepping stone for the Angell/Casey/Lee creative team between their time served on Cheers and their creation of Frasier.

They used the brother trope for both Wings and Frasier.

I remembered those episodes where some of the characters of both 'Frasier' & ''Cheers' made guest appearances on that show. Sadly, I just remembered too that David Angell & his wife were on that ill-fated flight on 9/11, the first plane that smashed into the Trade Tower. What a lost.

Sitcoms were never the same in my opinion.

Yeah, sadly. Here's the info:
Quote:
He and his wife, Lynn, were murdered in the attacks of 9/11 as passengers on American Airlines Flight 11.

In delivering his eulogy, David Lee credited Angell with coining the word "boinking" as a euphemism for sex on Cheers. He cited this as an example of one of the comedic contributions he made. Kelsey Grammer and Ted Danson also spoke at the funeral.

The names of David Angell and his wife are located atop Panel N-1 of the National September 11 Memorial's North Pool, along with other passengers from Flight 11.

Here's the obit from the L.A. Times:

What a hell of a way to go..... Crying or Very sad

Sorry to hear about Don Going away, he was a lot of fun.

I sure do miss the people here, but I have been busy with being depressed about trying to make ends meet and knowing I have no future.

Just going to have to work until I die, (and I hope it's soon and in my sleep).
