a. Used for a live album?

b. Used for the King Biscuit Flower Hour or similar program?

c. Used for a municipal, regional or national broadcast?

My first concert was released as The Song Remains The Same: Led Zeppelin. There may have been others but I don't buy or pay attention to many concert albums or bootlegs. They never approximate the experience and usually aren't any good in comparison to the official studio albums. I consider them as veiled greatest hits albums. Live jazz albums do a better job at presenting something novel but I rarely find live blues to be better than its rock counterpart.

I'm certain that many were broadcast in some capacity but I didn't know until afterwards. I used to live in the New York area, so there was lots of media attention; especially during the punk/new wave era. That said, I rarely went to clubs in the city unless my friends were playing. Many concerts but few small venues.

I'll go with A.

Savoy Brown Live In Central Park.

It was a good show for a snotty high school kid.

I can be glimpsed way in the back of Elvis Costello's "Club Date" DVD, and can be distinctly heard yelling "hooray" when he tells the price of the cheap guitar he's playing. I've also found myself in the audience of one of his 'Spectacle' TV show tapings.

I was at the Kilburn National Ballroom on 23 October 1986 to see The Smiths. It was recorded for BBC Radio 1's In Concert series and ultimately became The Smiths only official live album, Rank.

My mate, who was standing next to me at the time, reckons you can hear me singing "Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head" at the top of my voice during I Know It's Over. Very Happy

I have bootlegs of 2 shows I was at, that's as close as I get.

Aimee Mann and Monsters Of Folk.

I've got a load of Bowie bootlegs that I was at, one of which (Adelaide) I recorded.

Yes he named it after me. He reckons you can hear me yelling out for Laughing Gnome. Laughing

As well as these, there's 1976 Wembley Arena, 1983 Milton Keynes Bowl and Tin Machine at Kilburn National Ballroom (again) in 1989.

The closest I can do is attending The Muttonbirds at the Powerstation in Auckland. Support was David Kilgour (of The Clean and The Great Unwashed) who was touring his second solo album. About half way through the setlist he had the house lights come up so he could be filmed playing the first single from the album. Footage was used in this video:

No, I can't be seen in the footage, but I was there....

I was at a couple of shows that made it to LP: The Byrds at Queens College for Untitled; The Doors at The Felt Forum for Absolutely Live; Humble Pie - Rockin' The Fillmore; Todd Rundgren at the Wollman Rink in Central Park. Also, would Simon & Garfunkel reunion in Central Park count?

I should say it does. I had to stay home and listen to the WNBC S&G marathon that wasn't even close to the set they played. (Kept the tape for a few years, tho'.)
