a. Used for a live album?
b. Used for the King Biscuit Flower Hour or similar program?
c. Used for a municipal, regional or national broadcast?

My first concert was released as The Song Remains The Same: Led Zeppelin. There may have been others but I don't buy or pay attention to many concert albums or bootlegs. They never approximate the experience and usually aren't any good in comparison to the official studio albums. I consider them as veiled greatest hits albums. Live jazz albums do a better job at presenting something novel but I rarely find live blues to be better than its rock counterpart.
I'm certain that many were broadcast in some capacity but I didn't know until afterwards. I used to live in the New York area, so there was lots of media attention; especially during the punk/new wave era. That said, I rarely went to clubs in the city unless my friends were playing. Many concerts but few small venues.

I can be glimpsed way in the back of Elvis Costello's "Club Date" DVD, and can be distinctly heard yelling "hooray" when he tells the price of the cheap guitar he's playing. I've also found myself in the audience of one of his 'Spectacle' TV show tapings. |

The closest I can do is attending The Muttonbirds at the Powerstation in Auckland. Support was David Kilgour (of The Clean and The Great Unwashed) who was touring his second solo album. About half way through the setlist he had the house lights come up so he could be filmed playing the first single from the album. Footage was used in this video:

No, I can't be seen in the footage, but I was there....

I was at a couple of shows that made it to LP: The Byrds at Queens College for Untitled; The Doors at The Felt Forum for Absolutely Live; Humble Pie - Rockin' The Fillmore; Todd Rundgren at the Wollman Rink in Central Park. Also, would Simon & Garfunkel reunion in Central Park count?

I should say it does. I had to stay home and listen to the WNBC S&G marathon that wasn't even close to the set they played. (Kept the tape for a few years, tho'.) |
